Participants will be invited to a smelling experience exploring the inner landscape of synaesthetic experience. They will be guided into sensing and colour matching 16 perfumery materials which they will colour code and then mix into a rose solid perfume. The perfumes will be played by the electronic nose..
Workshop ‘Smells like Roses’, 3 hour workshop exploring synaesthesia through the power of synthetics and molecules created from petro chemicals to make intersensory illusions.

Perfume Workshop:

The characteristic scent of a rose is produced by a blend of almost 300 components none of which on its own smells like a rose.

Participants will be invited to a smelling experience exploring the inner landscape of synaesthetic experience. They will be guided into sensing and colour matching 16 perfumery materials which they will colour code and then mix into a rose solid perfume. The colour coding would result in a visual image similar in form to a large paint chart of 16 column and 20 rows.

According to the report from the National Academy of Sciences, 95% of chemicals used in synthetic fragrances are derived from fossil fuels, and include benzene derivatives, aldehydes, and toluene.
